Mount Joy
Mount Joy was founded in 1721 by Scots-Irish immigrants who named the town after an Irish supply ship. Originally three distinct villages, Mount Joy grew into one town as it became a trading post stop for those traveling west. The surrounding fertile land has made the agricultural industry a prominent aspect of the town.
Mount Joy was designated a Main Street Community in 2002 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This distinction allows Mount Joy to preserve its rich historical heritage while providing the community with exciting events, attractions and activities.
